'People are fearful' - why 'juggernaut' Arsenal are the team to beat.

There's little doubt why Arsenal are now countless pundits' preferred choice to win the Premier League in the current campaign.

Examine their outcomes against West Ham and Crystal Palace in contrast with those identical matches last season.

The Gunners have defeated all of them during this campaign, but dropped 10 points across those games as they dropped off in the title race in the prior campaign.

Defensive Strength

Arsenal's defensive strength is a crucial element why they are appearing strong to finally fulfil their title goal.

They lead the league for unbreached games (6), goals conceded (3), attempts against (72), quality opportunities against (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the finest in the league, with Arsenal maintaining a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Dominance

Their danger from dead balls is well known, but rival sides still struggle to contain the Gunners from these situations.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can perform multiple roles now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just fearful of them and it is great to see."

Title Credentials

What is particularly notable about Arsenal's start to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they keep winning, their historic competitors are struggling. This marks the initial occasion at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the outset, having allocated around £250m on eight summer signings in pursuit of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the business has so far proven successful in style, with his side among the highest scorers in the league and having the strongest defense, despite numerous injuries.

  • Clean sheets in three straight Premier League games
  • Nearly 6.5 hours without conceding a goal
  • Only a trio of goals in 12 games across various contests

Former players and experts have described Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now operating with conviction and resolve.
